Ikea Fix

Ikea Fix

Yesterday, I had a need to go to Ikea. I've noticed that if I don't go to Ikea every month, I get these indescribable cravings. I miss it. It makes me happy - walking through the aisles, touching the furniture, sitting on the couches, wandering through the model kitchens. I bask in the textiles, caress the light fixtures, inhale the scented candles. It's unexplainable. I just need my fix. Like an addict. Is it strange to have an addiction with a particular shop?

I don't necessarily buy something all the time.
I just enjoy the loveliness. I spent two very satisfying hours there dragging my poor husband around. To my wonderful surprise it wasn't jam packed, crowded and loud as it normally is. I believe it's because yesterday was the start of some religious day, so many people were at home with their families having very long Italian lunches
(usually lasting anywhere from 4 to 6 hours - I kid you not).

I left Ikea with a lot of frames that I had been meaning to buy.
A very happy shopper I was - indeed.

Here are some fun and inspiring ways to put up frames - with
engineering precision to happy go lucky styles.

  8. ikea is important - they do what they do well, and for some basics they are almost unbeatable. i'm more of modern gallery style hanger, but i've had friends do more creative hangings for me and i like the results... xo bb

  10. You've posted so many pretty images here! I'm in love with bright airy open rooms with lots of white in the mix! My obsession is probably TJ Maxx. I could spend oodles of money in there in the home area. Sometimes I have to make myself stay away.

  11. I am equally obsessed with IKEA! I don't get to the store monthly but if I don't go every few months I start to go a little batty. Sometimes I go when I don't even need anything...just to walk around their different room set ups and see what new furniture they have for sale.

I've had great luck with their fabrics and frames as well...oooh I'm going to be needing a trip to IKEA soon after this post!!

By the way, I looved the photos of different framing arrangements. Absolutely gorgeous!

  16. Oh don't get me started on IKEA. As a Swedish expat I have for years referred to IKEA as 'the Mothership' - it is where I, as a 'Swedish alien', return to store up on native life essentials and just generally to immerse myself in the goodness of my country. All the IKEA outlets look and feel the same and I can plonk myself in one of their display rooms and pretend I am back in Sweden.. :)

    Very happy at IKEA!
