Planning a Destination Wedding in Italy? Part II

continuation of Planning a Destination Wedding......

For those of you who would like to be married in Italy and do not speak fluent Italian, I would strongly advise hiring a wedding planner/coordinator. You'll thank me for it later. I would not have been able to do any of this on my own.

Can you put a wedding together, minus the church ceremony, in less than three weeks? You certainly can. Is it stressful? Sure is. Is it worth it? Well, it depends on what you want to achieve. We picked and ordered the invitations, chose a florist, booked a bar for the reception and made reservations at a local restaurant for the lunch - all within walking distance. None of which required a deposit - incredible?! - Yes, but true. But, this is Italy, so the rules are different here. However, the wedding starts on time like in all other countries.

The main reason for hiring a wedding coordinator is to take the hassle out of the planning and negotiating; and most importantly to deal with the official documents through the church and city hall of that city and country. So, if you are willing to part with a few thousand euros to have someone else do that for you - good for you! However, if you're like some of us, who love the challenge or could save a few euros and dollars, then DIY is the way to go!! And at the end of the day, you learn a lot about the system and yourself.

This boy behind me is a typical boy from Southern Italy. He was in all my pictures. Why?!! I don't have any wedding photos of myself where he's not somewhere in the photo. It's a sure way to make yourself not forgotten.
